This is the normal configuration of the garage door bottom seal used in this application. In normal use, this rail is nailed to the bottom of a garage door with the seal on the bottom side contacting the ground. I cut the rails down to length, drilled the mounting holes and then had them powdercoated. I then used two rails hooked on to one rubber seal and stretched the seal over the piano hinge. I needed a solution I could buy and modify off of the shelf and this is what I came up with.
