He was killed in the great battle of Fredericksburg near Winchester, Fredrick Co, VA. Was first buried where he fell, was supposed he was taken with the rest of the soldiers and buried in the Winchester Cemetery. He belonged to the 28th Regiment, Company K, Iowa Infantry Volunteers, Newton, IA commanded by Captain John Meyer.
