NEWBERRY (referenced in Chapter 22: first child of Isaac Newton NEWBERRY and Jane BENNETT), b: 21 Mar 1849, Cherokee County, Alabama, d: 29 Dec 1917 of pneumonia at Acklin Gap, Faulkner County, Arkansas, buried in Oakland Methodist Cemetery, Holland, Faulkner County, Arkansas, m1: Julia A. FRANKLIN, [Julia Ann Josephine FRANKLIN] b: 1854 in Mississippi, d: 1894, buried in Crumly Chapel Cemetery, Jefferson County, Alabama, (daughter of D. Benjamin FRANKLIN, b: 1830 in Alabama, d: 1899 and L. H. _______ [Lucy HENDRICKS], b: 1834 in Georgia, d: 1901, both buried in Crumly Chapel Cemetery, Adamsville-Birmingham, Jefferson County, Alabama, had two children: Lucy and Hale, born in Texas. The parents separated about 1879 and Zachary took Julia the forty miles to the railroad so she could return to Alabama (per Amy NEWBERRY Rowlett in 1986). Julia later married Bob WELLS and they had three children. Taylor migrated to Arkansas and M2: 23 Aug 1894 to Margarette Loular "Lou" BASS, b:24 Jan 1876 near Holland, d: 23 Sep 1958 at Acklin Gap, Faulkner County, Arkansas (6.5 miles east-northeast of Conway and 3.5 miles southwest of Holland) where all their twelve children were born, buried in Oakland Cemetery; daughter of Jesse Bosewell BASS, b: about 1836 in North Carolina and Frances RHODES (or RHOADES), b: 1835 in South Carolina. After the death of Taylor in 1917, Lou married James Wesley "Jim" FINCH, no children. Jim FINCH was the father of Lonnie D. FINCH, who married Grace NEWBERRY, below. The combined fourteen children of Taylor, Julia, and Lou were:
